Jess & Matt’s stylish, summer Chateau Laurier Wedding

Jess and Matt’s celebrated with friends and family with a wonderful, energetic wedding in Ottawa’s classic Chateau Laurier.

This Chateau Laurier Wedding is one I had been excited for since Jess and Matt got in touch. They actually got in touch with me before solidifying their venue, which I always love, as they were excited to work with me and open to advice and information from other vendors on how to make their vision come to life. The Chateau suited their stylish, candle-lit downtown wedding perfectly. Planned and designed by Amanda and her team at Simplice Events, I knew before walking into the space that this would be a good one. And if I could gather anything from their incredible engagement shoot (keep an eye on the blog for this one), I should have known their wedding would be just as amazing.

From getting ready to dancing, the full day took place in and around the Chateau, which make for a smooth and stress-free day prioritizing extra time for pre-ceremony private vows and candid portraits with their friends and family. The sunny day and ample portrait time meant we could really take advantage of light, following it as we walked through downtown and Major hills Park for the best vantage points.

If I could describe the decor with only two words it would definitely be Confetti and Candles. LOTS of Confetti and Candles. They had a Candlelit ceremony and we turned the lights really low in the Chateau’s Canadian room to give the space a more intimate feel and let the candles really glow. To keep the energy going, they had a confetti filled recessional and first dance (loved this idea!). Their dinner tables filled with pillar candles and afternoon sun flowing in from the windows, created some stunning reception lighting that truly set the mood for the rest of the evening.

I could photograph a Chateau Laurier Wedding every weekend and be a happy photographer. Such a stunning and classic venue, and even with the distinct architecture and decor, every wedding I’ve photographed here has been so different from one another. Jess and Matt had a vision for their day and I’m so glad I was there to capture it for them.
