Restaurant 18 Wedding
When Sheilagh first got in touch with me and talked about her plans for a Restaurant 18 Wedding, I was so excited. Since moving to Ottawa, I have wanted to capture a wedding in this beautiful Byward Market venue. When she mentioned it would be a winter wedding, I was even more ecstatic. A historic building with stone-walls and a cozy, candle-lit wedding sounded absolutely perfect to contrast a snowy, January evening.
Sheilagh and Erik were an absolute dream to work with from the beginning. Being incredibly organized but also wonderfully relaxed and flexible, these two were so easy to plan out a wedding day with. And on the wedding day itself, they were both so calm and completely able to enjoy every moment of their day.
Their wedding included getting ready in the bright and modern Andaz hotel with their wedding parties before heading off for a snowy first look and portraits at the Ornamental Gardens and Tropical Greenhouse. Thankfully, these locations don’t require a ton of walking, so we used up all our heat and energy taking photos until we couldn’t feel our fingers anymore! We all headed to the OAG to capture the family photos as well as a couple more modern shots of the wedding party. And finally headed to the venue to enjoy their beautiful ceremony. (Which took place in front of that amazing stone wall with the huge windows to show off the evening snowfall). The couple enjoyed a candle-lit evening with amazing food, wine, emotional speeches and finished off with a romantic first dance.
Being a winter wedding, I was also able to edit this wedding much quicker then any during the wedding season (because there is no large back-log of other wedding photos to get to first!). So I was able to get these two their photos during their honeymoon. They were so thrilled, and Erik, the groom, surprised me with a lovely google review:
“We requested Agatha for our wedding day, and she was absolutely phenomenal. The photo locations that she suggested were perfect, and the combination of appropriately serious and lighthearted moods she set was incredible. We just received the final photographs from her, and we couldn’t be happier. She did an amazing job of capturing all the important moments, and has given us memories that we’ll be able to cherish for a lifetime. We would recommend Agatha to anyone looking to hire a photographer for their big day!”

Thank you both for the kind words and trusting me with documenting your stunning winter wedding. We had such a wonderful day with you and are thrilled that you’re as happy with photos as we are!
Now without further ado, Sheilagh and Erik’s beautiful Restaurant 18 Wedding:
