I loved Marie and Josh’s Wedding at Beachwood Resort, Buckhorn. The lakeside ceremony, overcast skies and windy weather made for some very cool, moody photographs. I love the way each photo looks in black and white and couldn’t decide which images to keep in colour. So I decided to make a fully black and white blog post instead.
The day started out windy! I showed up at Beachwood, a venue I had never shot at before and stood by the lake. For a photographer, the wind was a dream. It was creating crashing waves against the shore and I thought this would make for super cool, energetic lakeside ceremony.
I went into Marie’s cabin and she was all smiles. She was having her make up done looking out on the lake. She was a wonderful contrast to the windy outdoors: calm, collected with not a hair out of place.
During the ceremony and photos, Marie and Josh didn’t take their eyes off each other. I felt like I was really capturing the two of them together and totally in love. They were cracking jokes and laughing and completely candid. They needed very little direction (another photographer’s dream!). The two of them even danced down the aisle and with the audience cheering and wind whipping around them, it definitely gave the energetic feel I was looking for.
Overall, these two and their windy wedding was one of the easiest weddings I’ve ever captured. Beautiful venue, beautiful couple and some wonderfully windy weather to top it all off. Hope you enjoy the post.
